To start off the new year 2005, and to introduce the full team, on the left in the back of the battle wagon, the old git himself, and in the centre picture, top mechanic, and checker of all details, is Rodger. Note my usual untidy state of affairs...... This was the Cadwell paddock scene that day! Plus on the right I can be seen leading a gaggle of race bantams through the new Cadwell chicane, behind the old git is Aidan Bent, not sure of the next rider, but the bantam in the bottom right of the pic is Phil Betty.
The typical bantam race adjustment in the paddock, a different gearing set, to try and reduce the lap times a bit more. Then a couple of other paddock shots showing that I use a shield on the exhaust these days as my leg still holds the scars from the first meeting of 2004 burn up!! The shield works well, and is much recommended....... last picture in the sequence, and it is possible to see the catch tank at the bottom (just). I use a reversed gear change arrangement, up for down gear, and down for up! because I miss less gear changes that way.
Whilst I am fitting the packing ring, here is a view of the drive side crankcase with barrel pushed in place, crank and piston fitted. Nice and technical!! There is still some fitting to do yet though, as the piston touches down on the ring at the moment. All will be tested soon.
A slightly new look in the cockpit for 2005, both versions of the new rev counter now fitted onto a simple alloy plate using Velcro strip and added electricians tape for security! I should be able to see both at once! (one for each eye....). Looking forward to the new season with mounting excitement.
First meeting at Mallory was a cold damp affair, but other than gear changing and a broken throttle cable the meeting was good with a 6th and a 4th. This places me and the green meanie in fourth overall position in the championship. Must find a bit more power or this will be very short lived! New bits acquired at the meeting are shown below.
A new tank to change the look of the bike slightly, notice the (stunning?) colour! a new fairing bottom to replace the very badly damaged old one. then a quick view of the naff throttle cable that gave trouble at Mallory Park 2005 meeting. Note the missing strands.... (Much similar to my missing hair!).

In one line of pictures, we have my 2005 Mallory race day in a nut shell! ( I have to thank Tony Davis for all of these three.) To the left awaiting in the holding bay, Andy Moulden on the right, just behind him is Steve Woods, further back Steve Frayne. Just behind my helmet is the new boy in town James Cook, and furthest left is Robbie Brown on the seriously fast 175. The centre picture is fairly self explanatory.... plus on the right is me being hopeful and chasing another position, just in front of me is Carl Coombes and a tiger cub! Quite a gaggle of bantams at this meeting!
Check out the new plastic! the green meanie will look pretty smart again once the paintwork is complete! Who is the pretender in my shed????? on the right is the steed of James Cook, he is going to have one of my exhaust jobs done on the engine. Should help move him along a bit... and we all need some help!
Three more of the best! The Ignition side shown with the latest AC coil fitted improves the calibration of the ignition no end!! Then being prepped for Pembrey, I am having to fit the original rev counter as I have sold all the stock of the digital versions! Must get some more.... Then some rearranging of wire positions on the back end, this also shows the need for a lick of paint around the new shock absorber springs, the frame seems to get the "all modifying" welding torch all too often these days whilst I am developing the job on..... Pembrey soon.
