For More Excellent Bantam Race Pictures www.sport-pics.co.uk

Shown above, the man! me racing everyone's bikes at Elvington near York! because as you know the engine is not yet complete. Note that because it has been so long since I last raced I have to wear the novice red jacket again. (As if!!). Anyway I got a couple of fourth places on a first outing, so who can complain? More engine bits below.
On the internationally famous table (where else?), the crankcase seals, plus, of course, a couple of spares! and note the pieces of the inlet tract before all the pieces are brazed together, all sat on a sheet of gasket material! The barrel is out having studs fitted and top skimmed to get good squish clearance at the moment. Middle picture displays the inlet tract without a reed fitted and partly brazed up. this allows manufacture of the fixed reed stops which are screwed to the outer, third pic makes this more obvious! The sides and front plate to go on when I am happy that all is sized up and fits OK.
More on the reed block and reed, the block will have the fixed in reed stops fitted after it gets a decent lick of paint! but still looks good and complete. Must check it against the barrel and solve any fitting problems. Main of the bottom end is together, and now bolted into the frame.
Notice the grave lack of space in the shed, this is a constant problem, but I hope to solve much of this through the winter! Two more views to savour, and plenty of tissue stuffed into the crankcase to make sure all stays clean while I get on with fitting a bracket for the ignition coil. As the barrel is not quite complete I am unable to do the exhaust brackets as well! timing side views with fitted rotor and stator to come soon....
Exactly as promised! timing side views, clearly showing chain is fitted, the PVL rotor stator and backplate, all neat tidy and ship shape. (bet they don't look too neat after the first run!). I have fitted a good strong earth strap which runs to the ignition coil mounting plate from the engine casing. Visible is the conrod and small end bearing. The clutch works a treat, this was tested by locking the engine and trying to force slip whilst in gear, all seems well at the moment.
The clutch side is neat with the outer case fitted and modified gear lever length. I must get some decent petrol pipe and a small filter for the fuel line. Now where did I put the wife's purse? I nearly forgot the ignition coil, mounted under the tank out of the way of spray but in the line of some moving air as I am told they get a little hot occasionally. hope it all works!
Could do with a new page as well! This will show more assembly views carb & cable fitting, possibly a complete bike...... Maybe even the beast running......
