For More Excellent Bantam Race Pictures www.sport-pics.co.uk

We seem to have come a very long way from where everything started. from buying a chassis and a few bits of engine, to a modern short stroke racing bantam, has been a long road, during which I have even borrowed and raced other bikes! and found sponsors, and developed as things went along, ripped up a good rolling chassis and turned it into something I thought may be more suited to me, whilst making it look good! This (I hope) is the motor fire up page, and I would like to show the first trials. Just wait till the barrel gets back!

Whilst I have been awaiting the return of my barrel from other work being done, I have got on with another front pipe variant! this one has been started in two flat halves, then edge welded, then hand worked up to a full shape. The result is really tidy. I will finish off the exhaust by cutting the front section bit by bit into a decent bend..... Hey just look what arrived in the second pic! time now to get on and put the engine together for the start up. Assembly of the top end at last! The exhaust still needs a good solid bracket.

A slightly larger picture and a better view, showing the carb canting to the left, and a decent snap clip holding the fuel filter from shifting around under vibration. the engine spins over freely with no excessive clicks or noise of any sort, should be OK to start soon. Neat pic on right shows the front exhaust bend and the frame brackets that take the fairing top half. Must find something to put over the gear change to save my boot! The next step is to get on with that darned exhaust bracket so I can get a plug and plug cap fitted ready for the big moment........

Whilst I frantically seek some racing plugs locally, here is a picture of some more parts for the next exhaust (front section shown earlier in this page), namely the centre section and rear cone. All slightly different from the first for development purposes! Shown on the super famous table...... Bottom of the fairing now with sponsors logos. To the right the new ignition fitted in the same place as the PVL system I had previous.

THE BEAST RUNS!!!

Saturday 22nd September 2003. Was the first run, so I will get a good shot of a warming up session next weekend and get it up onto the net asap! Note as well, the Vintage racing club have asked if the bike can go to York Racecourse on the stand for a bike show, on 6/7th of December 2003. So try to get there and see the action and support vintage racing, especially Bantams! Pictured above from the usual left to right, ready to rock and roll in the back garden! then getting ready for the first test run, trailer looks a bit naff, but is workable for this purpose. Then a neat side view in the garden.

Here it is, being tested on a private road, first impressions after some carb work.... Need a second gear to work properly! and I will need more setting up, but hey the promise is well there! Still no fairing bottom half fitted as I am doing a lot with the engine at the moment. To come is some video of the bike running and here is a neat pic with the complete fairing. For the sponsors of course!

More views, and the oud git on the right!

Video and sound bite! Take a look and listen for the first time!

Now the job of getting racing becomes something rather different whilst I get on and develop some power from the bike, and fit some of the missing things I can do with (a rev counter would be a good start!). More exhaust systems to come on and try out, another carb when I can afford it! and plenty of testing and fiddling with the fuel system to make it run clean and strong. Page seven will get on and deal with that process.
