Brought direct from the internationally famous table! The gearbox shaft repair is under way, the corners were seriously rounded off so have been welded up with a "work hardening" weld, and will be surface treated after they have been filed back to size again. Close examination of the pictures shows a very expert job! The strange objects in the right hand picture are the new footrest triangles on the way to completion before removing the old and welding on the new. I am still trying different riding positions!
With no paint on, the new footrest triangles fitted this very weekend! views of both sides above. A bit of cleaning and I will slap on the paint to tidy the job up. Rear brake plate looks tatty as well....At least it all seems strong. Lots happening now ready for the Pembrey meeting in May. Such as...... the gear shafts welded earlier have been worked to make the edges as good as new. shafts now need surface treatment for the final effect. local company for that job.
Follow the sequence of building the new front pipe.

Follow the sequence left to right. Patterns from paper, curl the edges in, gradually weld the seams both sides working evenly, end up with a Hoover suction hose!!! pull out, bash, and pat gently with mallets, to end up with a fully tapered pipe!! so easy........

The old git rounding the Mallory hairpin...... See..... it really does work! Courtesy Sport pics.

Reflections from Pembrey, Me and Robbie down the back straight just about to peel off right. Then myself on the fast right. A couple of seventh places at his meeting and a naff gearbox again! More work to be done on the second gear location to get that sorted. Lots of fun again though!
Things have been left a long time as far as the web site is concerned and it is now well into the season. There has been Lydden and Cadwell since the Pembrey meeting, so I will seek out some pictures and can report that after much gearbox trouble this seems to be solved and I will show the changes made after the next strip down. If you check out the bantam racing club site from time to time you will have seen I decked the bike twice at the oily and very wet Cadwell Full circuit meeting. No damage to the bike and minor bruising to me only!! I will have a camera available at Anglesey at the end of July, so more to be put onto the site soon.
The exhaust I started above is now complete.
Below, is Lydden hairpin, nice shot by Sport-pics. Good on yer Russell!!

To the right, me in reverse at Pembrey!! No, warming up actually!!! just before first practice and if I don't get a move on I am going to miss it all....
